Minecraft villager trading is the single most powerful system that players have access to. It gives players the ability to convert items like sticks, pumpkins, and melons into emeralds, which can then be turned into diamond gear and enchanted books. In fact, it's so powerful that Mojang has started to experiment with rebalances and nerfs to it.

This rebalance is available to try out in-game right now through an optional toggle. Detailed below is how to enable this trade rebalance toggle for both Java and Bedrock editions.

How to enable villager trading changes in Minecraft Java

1) Launch the game

The first thing you'll want to do to enable rebalanced villager trading in Minecraft Java Edition is open up the game. This can be done in either the title's official launcher or one of its alternatives.

If you're using the official launcher, make sure that Java Edition is selected before launching the game to avoid wasting time.

2) Create a new world

The Minecraft villager trading rebalance is an experimental change in Java Edition. This means that it can only be enabled during world creation.

Hit "Singleplayer" to open the list of worlds and then "Create New World" to open the world creation screen.

3) Open the list of experiments

There are three different tabs on the world creation screen. Click on the "More" tab. This contains the advanced settings for the world, such as Minecraft game rules, experiments, and data packs. Click on the "Experiments" button to open the current list of experiments.

4) Enable the villager changes

As of the 1.20 Minecraft update, the available experiments are bundles, the trading rebalance, and 1.21 features. Click on the toggle to enable the trading changes, as well as any other experiments desired.

5) Test in-game

The selected experiments will now load when the world is created. Go ahead and hit the "Create" button to generate the world. When loaded in, look for the nearest village and check their trades.

It might take some time to gather the resources needed to trade to the point to see if the rebalance applied, so temporarily using creative mode for this is recommended.

There are two main experiments in Bedrock Edition: 1.21 content and the Minecraft villager trading rebalance. Switch the toggle to enable the experiments you want for this world. The other experiments here relate to custom Marketplace content and should be left disabled for vanilla playthroughs.

5) Test in-game

Testing the villager trading rebalance experiment in-game is the same as in Java Edition. Finish creating the world, and then head to the nearest village to start trading. Using creative mode will allow for quick testing to make sure the experiment works.
