You can experience the atmosphere and the settings of Silent Hill in Minecraft using a combination of tastefully crafted mods and shaders. These add-ons transform the vanilla graphics to give an eerie atmosphere to your world, making it one of the best mod ideas to try out this Halloween.
To bring the eerie world of Silent Hill in Minecraft, you will need the following add-ons:
Here's how you can download and install these mods to experience Silent Hill in Minecraft:
- Head over to Curseforge and download the launcher.
- Once downloaded and logged in, search for the Conquest Reforged mod by romancapitalist. Alternatively, you can click on this link to get to the download page.
- If you wish to manually install the mod, click on the orange Download button and place the ZIP file in the mods folder. However, it is recommended to use the Curseforge loader since this is a rather complicated mod pack.
- Click the orange Install button, which will redirect you to the downloaded Curseforge app.
- You will be prompted to create a new instance. Name your instance (installation) and save.
- After creating the profile, you will be redirected to the instance page.
Having downloaded the Conquest Reforged mod, it is time to install the visual effects and shaders to make a world Eddie Dombrowski would be proud of. Here's how you can download and add the required add-ons:
- Go to the instance where you installed the Conquest Reforged mod.
- Select the Add More Content button on the top-right section.
- Search for Bliss Shaders and select the orange Install button on the right and wait for it to complete.
- Repeat the same step with Iris Shaders and Sodium, and wait for it to be installed.
Once done, head over to your instance and make sure the following mods, assets and shaders are installed:
- Cloth Config API (Fabric/Forge/NeoForge) (mod)
- Conquest Reforged (mod)
- Fabric API (mod)
- Iris Shaders (mod)
- Sodium (mod)
- Bliss Shaders (shader)
Ideally, all the assets should be added when you complete the installation process mentioned above. However, if any are missing, you can add them from the list above.
Now that all the assets are installed, you can proceed to launch the instance of Minecraft and edit the in-game parameters to experience Silent Hill in Minecraft.

How to customize in-game settings to experience Silent Hill in Minecraft

Save the file and keep it in any accessible directory, preferably the Minecraft installation folder or on your Desktop.

Head back to Minecraft and select the Shader Pack Settings to open the configuration menu. On the top of this tab, you will notice two arrows. Select the arrow pointing downwards to import the config settings from your created file. Navigate to the file and double-click it to import the settings.

Once done, select Apply to save the settings and then proceed to click Done to exit the config menu. Click Done twice to head back to the main menu. Now you can create a new game, and experience the creepy world inspired by Silent Hill in Minecraft.
Note: These config settings are just a template. You can head into the Shader Settings and tweak individual aspects to best suit your gameplay. Remember to apply your settings before you exit the tab to update the parameters and implement the changes in your world.
