The latest Minecraft Snapshot 25w02a introduced two new variants of pig, among other major updates (such as falling leaves and new flowers). These new styles bring some much-needed diversity to one of the oldest mobs in the game, allowing players to discover the new variants based on location. This has led to many players wondering where they can spot one of these new styles for the mob in the game.

How to find the cold pig in Minecraft

As the name suggests, you can primarily locate this pig variant in the colder regions of the map. This essentially refers to areas with snow and ice, as well as those that are marginally elevated.

Here are all the biomes where you can spot a cold pig:

• Old Growth Pine Taiga
• Old Growth Spruce Taiga
• Taiga
• Snowy Taiga
• Windswept Hills
• Windswept Gravelly Hills
• Windswept Forest

Simply head over to these locations to look for the new variant, which can be easily discerned thanks to its lighter shade compared to its temperate (regular) counterpart. Just like the regular variant, the cold pig will also drop XP and raw porkchop when eliminated.

As a diametric opposite to its cold counterpart, you can find the warm pig in hot and warm locations on your Minecraft map. This refers to deserts, plateaus, and areas with higher temperatures compared to temperate or equitably located biomes.

Here are all the biomes where you can get your hands on the warm pig:

• Savanna
• Savanna Plateau
• Windswept Savanna
• Jungle
• Sparse Jungle
• Bamboo Jungle
• Eroded Badlands
• Wooded Badlands
• Badlands

Apart from the difference in color, there is no other change in the behavior or loot drop of the new variants compared to the regular pig. These facelifts are purely stylistic, just like the frogs in the game that have similar biome-based variants. The new variants of the pig add to the ever-expanding collection of mobs and their types, enhancing the players' immersion and adding newer experiences for them.

It should be noted that the particular variant of a pig mob is determined by the biome where it spawns, with the temperate pig spawning in the absence of the cold and warm variants. However, when bred by players, the version of the baby pig is not decided by the current biome — rather, it is randomly selected from one of the parents' types.
