How to get best armor set in Minecraft 1.21

Armor is one of the most important things to craft in Minecraft. It reduces incoming damage from sources like hostile mobs, traps, and more, making it much easier to explore without worry. However, there are a plethora of armor enchantments to choose from, many of which are mutually exclusive. This makes it hard to know what to do to get the best armor available.

Everything you need to know about crafting, and then enchanting, the best possible armor, can be found detailed below. This will make it nearly impossible to die through regular survival gameplay.

How to get the best armor possible in Minecraft 1.21

1) Find diamonds

The first thing you need to do to get the best armor in the game is find enough diamonds to make a full set of diamond armor. This armor will be upgraded and enchanted to make god armor.

The best place to find diamonds is through mining its Minecraft ore, found most commonly on level -59. Diamonds can also be found as loot in many different structures, like desert temples, buried treasures, and mineshafts.

2) Get the enchantments

There are two main ways to get the enchantments needed to make god armor. The first is to use bookshelves to make a level 30 Minecraft enchanting area to try and manually get the right armor buffs. This will involve unenchanting and re-enchanting until the right ones are placed on each armor piece.

The second, and more recommended, method is to set up a Minecraft villager trading hall and reset a librarian's trades until they sell a useful enchanted book. This will require a few different librarians, as there are many different enchantments that players will need. The full list of armor enchantments to trade for can be found below.

3) Craft and enchant diamond armor

Once you've got all the enchanted books you need, it's time to craft the diamond armor and apply the buffs. Make sure to combine a few enchanted books before applying them to an armor piece to avoid reaching the arbitrary "too expensive" enchanting limit. Thorns is a useful Minecraft enchantment that causes hostile mobs to take damage as they melee you. This can be a double-edged sword, as it makes it hard to lead mobs into farms without accidentally killing them, hence why it's listed as an optional enchantment for god armor. Its use is entirely dependant on personal preference.

4) Upgrade to netherite

The final part of getting the best armor possible is to loot a Minecraft bastion for a netherite armor upgrade, and mine around the dimension searching for ancient debris.

Use the template duplication crafting recipe to make a template for all four pieces of armor, and then apply netherite to upgrade the diamond armor in a smithing table. This will give you the true best armor possible in vanilla survival.
