The pack aims to completely overhaul the animations of in-game mobs and the game world at large. Even if it's still a work in progress, Fresh Animations is incredibly aesthetically pleasing if you've ever needed a new set of Minecraft mob animations to appreciate.

Downloading and installing Fresh Animations will take a little time and effort, but the process is far from difficult in the long run. With that in mind, let's take a look at how you can install Fresh Animations and activate it. Your in-game mobs will certainly stand to gain from this resource pack, to say the least.

To download Fresh Animations in Minecraft, you'll need to find a site that hosts its files, and we'll be using Modrinth for this example. Meanwhile, you'll also need to download the mod Optifine or the mods Entity Model Features and Entity Texture Features. Optifine currently isn't updated to work with the 1.21 update, so we'll take a look at how to download the two latter mods and the Fabric mod loader to install them.

Below, you can find the steps for downloading Fresh Animations, its dependency mods, and the Fabric mod loader:

1. Begin by heading to Fabricmc.net on your web browser, then click the download button. Choose to download the Windows installer if you're on Windows or the universal .jar if you're playing Java Edition on other computer platforms running MacOS or Linux. This should provide you with an installation file for Fabric for Minecraft 1.21.
2. Next up, head to Modrinth.com and enter Entity Mod Features into the search bar. Scroll down the resulting mod page and click the latest version of the mod under the Featured Versions section. It should be listed as being compatible with Minecraft version 1.21. This will bring you to another download page, where you can click the download button and you'll receive a .jar file. Complete this same step for the Entity Texture Features Minecraft mod as well.
3. Lastly, search for the Fresh Animations resource pack on Modrinth and click the version of the pack under Featured Versions that is compatible with the 1.21 update. Click the subsequent download link to receive the pack's contents compressed in a .zip file.

To install Fresh Animations correctly in Minecraft 1.21, you'll need to install Fabric and the Entity Features mods first before finally placing the Fresh Animations .zip file in your root folder's resource packs folder. It isn't as complicated as it sounds, and you can find the steps for doing so below:

1. Run the Windows installer or universal .jar for Fabric that you downloaded previously. Follow the onscreen prompts of the setup wizard and you'll be notified when the mod loader has been installed.
2. Next up, take the .jar files for the Entity Model Features and Entity Texture Features mods and place them in the mods folder of your root Minecraft folder. On Windows, you can find the default root folder location by opening your Windows search bar and entering %appdata% and then clicking the accompanying .minecraft folder. Fabric should have created a mods folder within this root folder, though if it didn't, go ahead and create one and place the Entity Features mods within it. On MacOS, you can find your root folder by pressing shift + command + G and then typing ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft before hitting enter. On Linux, the default root folder path is ~/.minecraft and can be found with similar steps to MacOS, but you may need to press ctrl + H to reveal any hidden folders.
3. With the Entity Model/Texture Features mods in the mods folder, return to your root directory and open the resourcepacks folder, then place the .zip file for Fresh Animations within it.
4. Lastly, open Minecraft: Java Edition and select the options button, then the resource packs button. Click the portrait for Fresh Resources and ensure that it moves under the Selected category of resource packs, then click done.
5. Hop into an existing world or create a new one and enjoy the animations!
