A common mistake that many Minecraft resource packs make is leaving the game's UI untouched. While there's nothing wrong with the vanilla interface per se, the flat grays are inarguably bland. Thankfully, there are resource packs like the Colorful Containers GUI pack available to revamp these otherwise dull screens.
Everything you need to know about installing and using the Colorful Containers resource pack to overhaul the game's UI can be found below.
How to install the Colorful Containers resource pack for Minecraft 1.21
1) Launch CurseForge or Modrinth

The first thing you'll need to do to use the Colorful Containers resource pack is open an alternative Minecraft launcher. The pack is available on both Modrith and CurseForge, so you can choose either launcher based on your preference.
2) Open an existing 1.21 profile
Once you've opened up your launcher, open or create a profile for Minecraft 1.21. It's worth noting that the pack does have some features that are exclusive to Optifine, such as villager, dropper, chest, and shulker UIs. The resource pack can be used on versions of the game without Optifine, but these UI changes will be unavailable.
3) Enter the content browser
Once you've entered a 1.21 profile, switch over to your launcher's content browser. On Modrinth, there's a green "Add content" button, while on CurseForge, there's a gray "Add More Content" button. Click this to switch to the browser.
4) Switch to the resource pack section
Once you're in the content browser, switch to the resource pack section out of the Minecraft mod section. On Modrinth, there are different tabs near the top of the screen, click on the "Resource Packs" tab. On CurseForge, use the dropdown menu located at the top left of the screen to select "Resource Packs" from the list of options.
5) Search for "Colorful Containers"
Once you're in the Minecraft resource packs section of the browser, search for "Colorful Containers." The correct one will have the user Kingybu as the creator. There will be two options, a regular and a dark mode version.
6) Install the resource pack
Once you've found the correct resource pack you'll see an "Install" button next to the pack's name. On Modrinth, this button will be green, while on CurseForge, it will be orange. Hit this button, and the launcher will automatically install it to your profile.
7) Launch the game and activate the pack
Once this is done, return to the profile's home page and launch the game. Then, go into the options menu to see your Minecraft settings. From here, enter the resource packs list and move Colorful Containers from the list of available packs to enabled ones. Then, join into a world and check out the crafting table and furnace interfaces to make sure it's working properly.
