OneBlock is a unique custom game mode in Minecraft in which you start on a single grass block floating in the void. The goal of the game mode is like any other Minecraft world: to progress and defeat the Ender Dragon. However, this mode requires you to mine that one block repeatedly to get new resources. In such game modes, resources like water become extremely important.

To make things easier, here is a short guide to obtaining water in Minecraft OneBlock custom game mode.

Note: It is worth noting that there are several kinds of OneBlock worlds out there with different progression methods. This particular guide only applies to the OneBlock Original mod on CurseForge.

First, you should start by breaking grass blocks and progressing through the first stage. This will give you several dirt blocks, which you can place around the source block to create a platform to stand on. This will make your life easier, as mobs will also spawn after a while.

2) Wait for a mysterious trader to show up and shuffle its trade

After breaking some more blocks, you will notice that a mysterious trader will suddenly spawn near you with all kinds of unique trades that are not seen in vanilla Minecraft.

Another important thing to note is that this OneBlock world will have lots of unique crafting recipes. This will allow you to craft items like cobblestone from dirt and iron nuggets from gravel.

There is a chance that the mysterious trader will have a trade that gives several ice blocks for 12 iron ingots. The ice block can then be broken to obtain water.

If the trader does not have this particular trade, you must keep breaking the source block to get other kinds of resources. After a certain point, the trader will change the trade list. There is a chance of the iron ingot and ice trade popping up again.

3) Gradually craft iron ingots for the ice block trade

Once you have the mysterious trader that shows the ice trade, you can start crafting gravel using cobblestone and dirt. Then, smelt that gravel in a furnace to get iron nuggets. Finally, enough iron nuggets can be combined into iron ingots. These iron ingots can be traded with the mysterious trader to obtain ice blocks.

Once you get the ice block, carefully create a crater-like hole in which you can place the ice block. Once placed, you can simply break it to get water. This water can then be picked up using a bucket made from iron ingots as well.
