While the vast world of Minecraft may feel endless, you might be surprised to know that it does have a boundary. Any game, even if it is procedurally generated, must have a border where things end. While you can keep running or flying in one direction in the game to technically reach the world border, it is nearly impossible to do so. However, there are some other viable ways to get to the world border.
In this article, we will show you all the ways you can reach the world border in Minecraft both with and without using commands. Let’s get started.
How to get to the world border in Minecraft with commands

The easiest and most logical way to get to the world border is by using one of the Minecraft commands: the teleportation command. This lets you enter the coordinates of a particular location and then instantly transports you there.
The reason we think it's the logical way is because the world border is 30 million blocks away from the spawn point. So, to walk there at one second per block would take almost a year without stopping to reach. That’s nearly impossible, even if you have a lot of free time. Hence the teleportation command is the way to go.
To use the teleport command, first make sure that you have enabled commands via the settings. Once enabled, turn on the chat menu in the game. Here:
- Type in “/teleport X Y” with X and Y being the coordinates of the world border.
- Make sure that you use this command from your spawn point
- If for some reason the game displays an error, try putting a number lower than 30 million, for example, 29999998.
Going to the world border without commands
Since we know where the blocky world of Minecraft ends, all you need to do is walk in one direction, North, South, East, or West, and cross 30,000,000 blocks to reach the world’s end. But as we calculated before, walking there would take a year. So that’s generally out of the question.
However, there are other, faster ways of traveling in the game. For example, you can consider walking through the Nether as one block traveled in the Nether is equal to 8 blocks traveled in the Overworld. With that, it would take you around 45 days of non-stop walking to reach the world border. But we can go even faster.
The fastest way to travel in Minecraft is by using a boat on blue ice. The boat goes at a staggering speed of around 72 blocks per second. So it would take you around 5 hours of moving at that speed to reach the world border. This approach is also hypothetical as you will have to make a track of blue ice to use it.
