Minecraft has been around for more than 15 years. Since it continuously attracts new players, it is natural that many arn't aware of some of the settings and options offered. The title has a long list of settings that allow you to tweak many of its aspects, making it play out exactly how you want. But there’s one thing that has bothered many players for a long time.
Minecraft's UI and HUD remain on the screen all the time. There is certainly some useful information, but after a point, you want them to be removed so that you can make the game feel more immersive.

Minecraft Bedrock Edition guide: How to hide controls from screen
Since this guide is about Minecraft Bedrock Edition, it is applicable for Pocket Edition (iOS and Android smartphones) and all the consoles (Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch.) You can easily remove or hide the always-on controls from the main screen by following these steps:
- Launch the game and then head to Settings.
- From the Settings menu, select Controls to open a list of new options.
- You will find many other relevant options to toggle here. For now, toggle the “Hide Controller Hints” option.
- You can turn off “Controller Cursor” as well.
- Close the Settings tab and head back into the game.
In just a few, simple steps, you can easily hide the controls and the hints that become unnecessary after some time. But sometimes you might want to go a step further and get rid of all the UI elements, even those showcasing hands. This is useful when you find something beautiful in the game and take a screenshot or screen recording.
If you find yourself in that situation, then you are in luck as there are settings in the game just for that. You can disable all the UI elements by following these steps:
- From the game menu, head over to Settings.
- Here, find and select the Video options. From this menu, you can tweak almost everything about how the game looks.
- In the Video tab, toggle the “Hide Hand” and “Hide HUD” options.
- Go back to the game and you will find a clean interface.
Do note that doing so will get rid of your hotbar as well. While the buttons are still present so that you can move and select items from the hotbar, it is quite difficult to do so without seeing them. Use these settings only to record the screen or take screenshots. Minecraft Java Edition does not require this as it can only be played on a PC or Mac.
