Minecraft AFK pool is a way to stay online without being disconnected for inactivity. These pools can be particularly useful for keeping your automatic farms running and producing resources while you're away. Although some servers (and Realms, by and large) circumvent AFK pools, they can still work well in many situations.

AFK pools in Minecraft are easy to build, and all you have to do to use one is to hop into its water current and enjoy the ride. As long as certain timeout disconnect mechanics aren't enabled on a multiplayer server, your AFK pool should keep you in-game and online for an extended period.

While AFK pools have some small variations of how they're constructed in Minecraft, they tend to operate on the same simplistic design. To build this particular pool, you'll need 20 building blocks of your choice, two signs, and one water bucket, all of which should be incredibly easy to obtain. Additionally, if you'd like, you can swap one of the signs for a pressure plate.

Once you've procured your resources, building an AFK pool in Minecraft is pretty easy. However, if you're not familiar with the process, you can follow the steps below:

  1. Begin by placing a lone building block that will serve as the center of your AFK pool.
  2. Build a one-block-tall square around this central block, but ensure there is one block of space between the outer square and the center.
  3. Select one of the corners of the square and build it up to two blocks tall and four blocks wide.
  4. From the bottom of the corner you just built, place a sign one block up and to the left of the bottom of the corner, then place another sign one block to the right of the bottom of the corner. You can also simply place a pressure plate on the ground in the corner if you want.
  5. Lastly, one block above where you placed the second sign, use your water bucket. This should create a water source block that wraps around the center of the AFK pool and stops at where you placed the second sign/pressure plate.

That's all there is to it. To use the AFK pool, simply hop into the water flow circling the pool. The flow will carry you around in a square pattern thanks to the water and the placement of the signs, ensuring continuous motion, which registers as activity on many multiplayer servers to help keep you online and not being kicked from the server due to inactivity.
