Minecraft has a large number of dyes that allow players to customize and color certain blocks and entities as they see fit.

Dyes are essentially categorized into three different sections: primary dyes, quasi-primary dyes, and secondary dyes. A primary dye like black dye can easily be crafted from ink sacs dropped by squids. However, a secondary dye like purple dye is made by combining multiple primary dyes.

This is somewhat similar to the way the color wheel works in real life. However, making different dyes is not difficult if players know the right crafting combinations.

How to create cyan dye and obtain its materials in Minecraft

As a secondary dye in Minecraft, cyan dye must be created by combining two different dyes. Specifically, players must combine green and blue dye to make two pieces of cyan dye. In Bedrock Edition, players can also use lapis lazuli in place of blue dye if they want.

Green and blue dyes come from fairly accessible sources, so obtaining them shouldn't be too difficult.

Green dye can be obtained by smelting cactus blocks, which can be found easily throughout desert biomes. To obtain green dye, players can simply harvest the cactus blocks, pop them into a furnace, and add some fuel.

For blue dye, players can seek out cornflowers. These can be found in plains, sunflower plains, flower forests, and meadow biomes. Once obtained, all players need to do is place the cornflower into a crafting grid, which will convert it into blue dye.

Once both dyes are assembled, players can place both their green and blue dyes together in the crafting grid. Doing so should create two pieces of cyan dye for every piece of green and blue dye combined.

As previously stated, lapis lazuli can also be used in place of blue dye in Minecraft: Bedrock Edition. Lapis lazuli can be found underground in the form of an ore block.

Lapis lazuli ore blocks can be found in different batches underground after the reworking of ores in recent updates. The most common layers in which they can be found (in typical distributions) are height levels Y=-1 in Java Edition and Y=0 in Bedrock Edition.
