Over the years, Mojang Studios has released loads of new features for Minecraft. They have constantly updated the game since its release in 2011. Moreover, the game's bustling community has come up with countless third-party features for it in the form of mods. The modding community became extremely famous as millions of players downloaded these features.

Mojang could have created a few mod-inspired Minecraft vanilla features
Craved features that turned into Minecraft mods
Ever since the game started developing back in 2010, it was handed out publicly to millions of gamers. This was a way to get lots of feedback and improve the game for its official release.
Since countless ideas and feedback came Mojang's way, they were unable to implement everything to the official base game. This is when mods for the game were born. Players who had enough programming knowledge started creating custom features for Minecraft.
These mods either catered to the modder's own needs and ideas or offered features that several people in the community craved. Hence, mods became a popular add-on to have and enjoy whenever playing the game.
The game's community is massive, with over 300 million gamers purchasing and playing it. Hence, Mojang Studios was unable to cater to every need. However, when they noticed that some common features were being asked by the entire player base, they started to act upon them.
How Mojang could have been inspired to create certain features
When Mojang Studios realized that some features were widely popular and craved in the base game, they gave their own twist to these features and added them in subsequent updates.
Mentioned below are a few vanilla features that could have been inspired by mods:
Spyglass
Spyglass is a tool that helps players look at faraway places in the game. It can be crafted with copper ingots and amethyst shards. Prior to the feature, a popular performance mod called OptiFine was widely used by millions that had a dedicated zoom feature. It allowed players to press a button to instantly zoom in.
Recovery Compass
Recovery Compass is a tool that helps players find their last death location. It can be crafted using echo shards and a compass. Before this feature landed in the game, players used popular mods like Gravestone, Death Finder, and more, that helped players find where they met their demise.
Wolf variants and armor
Both wolf armor and wolf variants were recently released in 2024 with Minecraft 1.20.6 update. Wolves with different textures can be found in specific biomes, while wolf armor can be created using armadillo scutes.
These features were craved by the community for several years since wolves were some of the best pets in Minecraft. Hence, mods like Wolf Armor and Storage, RevampedWolf, and Wolves With Armor became so famous.
