Minecraft has three different dimensions players can head into: Overworld, Nether, and End. The third and the last one, as the name suggests, is the final dimension players enter to defeat the boss mob, Ender Dragon, and finish the game's story. However, the game's underlying story has remained the same for quite a while, which ends after the Ender Dragon's death.
Since Minecraft's community is already craving an End update, Mojang could add new features that expand on the game's storyline and bring new features to the desolate realm.

Minecraft's storyline could be updated and expanded with an End update
Introduction of an Ender King
One of the best ways to extend the game's storyline would be to introduce a brand new boss mob in the End. Though we already have Wither as the second boss mob of the game, it has no connection to the End.
Four years ago, the End realm was entirely redesigned by well-known Minecraft YouTuber Ph1LzA, who also included a ton of additional features as part of his own hardcore world's narrative.
While re-creating the End island into Endlantis, Ph1LzA planned to add lore to the entire realm through a new entity known as the Ender King. In his hardcore world, the Ender King was a demigod who proclaimed himself the king of the desolate dimension and annihilated all Ender Dragons in the End.
According to the lore, the Ender King was a greedy creature that, like Enderman, picked up blocks and other objects from the Overworld realm. He began destroying Ender Dragons out of sheer greed and rose to become the realm's king.
A boss mob similar to the Ender King could be added to expand Minecraft's underlying story, which continues after the player defeats the last Ender Dragon in the End realm.
New biomes and Enderman variants bringing deeper End lore
Apart from a boss mob, Mojang could add loads of new biomes and mobs with an End update as well. This has always been discussed by the community since the current version of the End looks a bit too barren.
The Enderman, one of the most mysterious creatures of the game, could receive different variants that can only be found in new specific End biomes. These Enderman could drop new items that can either be used as new weapons or other brand-new mechanics.
Since both Overworld and Nether now have a bunch of unique biomes and mobs, it's time the third realm received them.
