Steps to play Better Than Adventure mod for Minecraft

1) Download MultiMC

Since the Better Than Adventure mod packs a lot of features despite being a mod for the Minecraft 1.7.3 beta version, it needs to be installed and played from a completely different game launcher.

Hence, you need to first download the MultiMC launcher/client. This particular launcher will allow you to run any game versions as instances. The MultiMC launcher can be simply searched on Google and downloaded from its official website.

2) Search for Better Than Adventure Updater and Install

After installing MultiMC, you need to download Better Than Adventure's (BTA) instance zip file, which can be downloaded from the mod's official website. It will be an updated utility file that needs to be opened in MultiMC itself.

Once downloaded, you can open MultiMC, click on 'Add Instance' on the top left corner, select 'Import from zip' and then browse for the updated utility zip file.

Make sure that you are also logged into your Microsoft account through MultiMC to run this BTA update utility.

The utility will essentially download all the required game and mod files from the web automatically.

Reason why Better Than Adventure Minecraft mod was created

During Minecraft's development, Mojang Studios made major gameplay changes with each beta release. Among these, the 1.8 Adventure update was arguably one of the most controversial, since it introduced a hunger bar, flatter terrain generation, and various other changes that altered the core mechanics of the game.

Before the 1.8 update, players used to replenish their health by eating food directly, and terrain generation was more irregular and pronounced. The 1.8 update's changes were not well-received by the playerbase. Many preferred the previous gameplay mechanics.

In response, a group of modders created the mod called Better Than Adventure, designed as an extension of beta version 1.7.3. This mod retained the older gameplay mechanics while adding new features, which were more popular with the community.
