To play the Temple of Notch, you need to download the map from the official source. That said, there is one problem: the current version of the game that most people have is 1.21+ if you consider the beta and preview updates released. Unfortunately, the map is only compatible with the older versions of the game.

The official page for the map on Planet Minecraft mentions that it is compatible with version 1.4.x of the game. Unfortunately, trying it on the latest version does not yield any results. Another thing to note is that the map is only compatible with the Java version. So all the Bedrock Edition players will have to sit this one out.

The process of getting the map file is simple. All you have to do is follow these steps:

  • Head over to Planet Minecraft to the official page for the Temple of Notch map file and download it.
  • Keep the compressed file handy as you will need it soon.
  • From the Windows home screen, type in “Run” in the search bar and hit enter.
  • In the Run search bar, type in “%APPDATA%” and hit enter. This will open a folder.
  • Look for the “.minecraft” folder and then locate the “Saves” folder inside it.
  • Extract the downloaded map folder here and the world should be imported into your game.
  • Launch the game and then from the worlds, select the Temple of Notch world and start playing it.

If you have already updated your game to the latest version, do not worry as you can download any version of Minecraft from the Launcher in the “Installation” tab. Thus, install the older version and then launch the game to play on the map.
