Copper bulbs are a new light-emitting block released in the Minecraft 1.21 Tricky Trials update. These add major use to the copper mineral, which has been in the game for several years. Other copper blocks were also introduced in this update, making the mineral essential. Copper bulbs can be obtained in two ways: by getting them in a new structure and by crafting them manually.

However, if players need copper bulbs early in the game, finding them is an easier option.

Why is finding copper bulbs faster than crafting them in Minecraft

With the Minecraft 1.21 update, Mojang added a new structure named Trial Chambers. These generate underground in the Overworld realm and contain various trial spawners summoning various hostile mobs to challenge players.

The main light source of the entire structure is the new copper bulbs. These bulbs can either be dimly lit due to oxidation or bright due to the lack thereof. However, it's safe to say the structure will be filled with these new light-emitting blocks.

To brighten copper bulbs, crouch and right-click on them using an axe to scrape off the oxidation. Furthermore, break and obtain these blocks with a pickaxe.

From one trial chamber, you can easily get 30 to 40 copper bulbs.

Crafting copper bulbs requires hard-to-obtain items

While players can also craft copper bulbs in Minecraft, doing so can be quite difficult, especially for new players who haven't progressed enough.

A copper bulb requires three blocks of copper, one blaze rod, and one redstone dust. Players might be able to get redstone dust and enough copper ingots to create three blocks, but the most difficult item to obtain is blaze rods.

Blaze rods can only be obtained from Blaze mobs that spawn in Nether Fortresses in the Nether realm. Additionally, they only have a 50% chance of dropping a rod.

Compared to crafting a single copper bulb, finding them in trial chambers is much easier as you can quickly get loads of blocks in one go. To craft the same number of copper bulbs that can be found in a single trial chamber, defeat loads of Blaze mobs to get ample Blaze rods.
