How to remove bad omen in Minecraft 1.21

Minecraft recently received the much-awaited Tricky Trials update that added a ton of new content to the game. These include new mobs such as the breeze and the bogged, new blocks such as the crafter, the vault, the trial key, even new copper and tuff variants, and the list goes on. But what’s interesting is that to give you more control, the update also completely changed a long-established game mechanic: the bad omen effect.

Understandably, you may be curious about the changes regarding the bad omen effect and how you can remove it after the Minecraft 1.21 update. So, without further ado, let's get into it.

How to remove bad omen effect in Minecraft 1.21

For years before the update, the only way to get the bad omen effect in Minecraft was by killing the raid captain. But that has changed completely. Now, you can choose if/when you want to get the bad omen effect (and raid omen if you are around a village.)

Killing a raid captain will result in the captain dropping the ominous bottle. This bottle has multiple levels from level 1 through level 5 with each increasing level giving the bad omen effect for a longer duration. It's important to note that you cannot stack the effects of different levels.

Consuming the ominous bottle will result in you getting the bad omen effect. If you consume it near a village or a villager, it will start the raid omen effect. If you are in the line of sight of a trial spawner inside the trial chambers, it will start the ominous trial event.

However, the method for removing the effects of bad omen remains the same. You can simply drink a bucket of milk and remove the bad omen effect. The other, obvious method, is by dying, although it is not recommended. Just keep a bucket of milk in your inventory as it helps in removing all the negative effects.

The new method of getting the bad omen effect was appreciated by the players, however, Mojang Studios should also change the removal method of bad omen as well. Drinking a bucket of milk seems too outdated and simple of a solution. There should instead be some challenging way that pushes players and makes getting rid of the bad omen effect more difficult.

Using the bad omen effect in a trial chamber will trigger the ominous trail effect. This makes defeating the mobs more challenging, but also gives more rare loot such as enchanted mace, heavy core block, etc.
