How to sell content on the Minecraft Marketplace

The Minecraft Marketplace is one of the primary means of accessing downloadable content for Bedrock Edition, including skin packs, custom worlds, add-ons, and more. However, while this content is primarily created by the community, not just any player can upload their custom creations to the marketplace.

The Minecraft Marketplace's creators are typically members of the Creator Program, a way of vetting potential creators before their work is uploaded to the marketplace to ensure quality and safety. Moreover, creators must have a portfolio of work ready to present to Mojang and have a legally owned business tied to their creations that the studio can work with.

If you have a passion for all things Minecraft and want to take your custom content to the marketplace, there are a few requirements to take care of before you apply for the Partner Program and are legally permitted to upload content:

  • You must have a registered business for your content creation, including business and tax details that can be provided to Mojang during the application process.
  • You should have access and be able to provide a high-end portfolio of your content. This can include add-ons, skin packs, custom worlds, servers you're currently hosting, and more.
  • You'll need to prove through your work and business that you're passionate about Minecraft and wish to bring your content to a wider audience through the use of the marketplace. This passion should be reflected in the quality of your portfolio, as Mojang regularly removes content that isn't up to its standards.

With all of that in mind, you can head to Minecraft.net/partner and scroll to the bottom of the web page to find the application signup. However, Mojang only takes on so many creators at once, and signups are periodic. This means you may have to enter your email address and allow the studio to contact you when a new batch of partners can apply for the program.

Once your partnership is confirmed by Mojang, any approved content submitted to the studio will be uploaded to the marketplace and can be purchased and downloaded by players. Your content will be purchased with Minecoins or real-world currency, and the revenue from the transaction will be split between your business and Mojang/Microsoft.

This is an excellent way for Bedrock Edition creators to make some money for themselves while supplying fans with tons of hours of entertainment. It's also a great way to raise one's profile in the community until they're as well known as the likes of partners like NoxCrew and AriaCreations.
