The Minecraft Garden Awakens drop introduced a wide array of items and eerie features, complete with the creaking and the heart blocks the new mob connects to. Found in the Pale Garden, creaking hearts are responsible for creating creaking mobs at night and controlling them like puppets. A creaking can survive as long as its connected creaking heart does. But how can these blocks be used?

With the right supply of blocks and enchantments, you can collect creaking heart blocks from Minecraft's Pale Garden biome and use them elsewhere with little more than a sense of direction.

To collect a creaking heart instead of destroying it in Minecraft, you'll need a tool enchanted with the Silk Touch enchantment. The tool itself doesn't matter as long as it's affixed with Silk Touch.

From there, head to a Pale Garden biome and search for a glowing orange texture on the garden's pale oak trees during the night (though you'll need to watch out for creakings that might attack).

For a dead giveaway to a nearby creaking heart, wait until nighttime in the Pale Garden biome and strike a creaking with your hands or a weapon/tool. Spore-like particles will appear and point out the location of the creaking's connected creaking heart.

From here, simply approach the creaking heart, break it with the Silk Touch tool, and collect it. This will still kill any connected creakings.

Creaking hearts can activate and spawn creakings outside of the Pale Garden biome in Minecraft, but you'll need to use them appropriately to do so.

Specifically, you'll need two pale oak logs (including stripped logs if you prefer) or two blocks of pale oak wood (pale oak wooden planks and their variants won't work in this case). Once you have them, stack the logs/wood in the same orientation as the creaking heart.

By placing two pale oak logs/wood blocks either vertically or horizontally, then placing the creaking heart between them in the same orientation, the creaking heart will glow orange. This signals that the creaking heart is connected properly and will therefore begin spawning creakings once night has fallen, regardless of the biome and the distance from the Pale Garden.

Once a creaking has spawned, it will connect to the creaking heart no differently than if it was in the Pale Garden. However, the creaking does lose some of its stealth element when roaming around other biomes.

Regardless, just like in the Pale Garden, when the creaking heart is destroyed, the creaking connected to it will also be knocked down.
