How to use Creepers to defeat other enemies in Minecraft

Creepers are one of the most iconic hostile mobs in Minecraft. The creature silently sneaks towards a player and explodes, not only hurting them but also destroying various blocks in the vicinity. While dying to a Creeper can be quite annoying, it can be used in a positive way — to help players escape dire situations.

When exploring large caves or dark areas where loads of hostile mobs spawn, things can get out of hand when multiple hostile mobs attack from different angles. This is when a Creeper explosion can be a blessing in disguise. The blast will not only affect the player or nearby blocks but also any entity beside it.

Hence, if players are attacked by various creatures, they can run around and find a Creeper to intentionally lure them. When the green mob starts sneaking toward the player, the latter needs to time the creature's explosion perfectly — right when they are close to the horde of enemies.

When the Creeper blows up, players must always remember to use the shield so that they do not get hurt. The explosion will kill most of the hostile mobs, and injure others. This will relieve the pressure on players.

Another way a Creeper explosion can be used is to create openings in a cave. Frequently, a cave vein can open into another but is only separated by a few blocks.

Though players can mine blocks to create openings, Creeper explosions are a much faster albeit dangerous method for doing so. Hence, in a dire situation, players can carefully lure a Creeper, make it explode by standing near it while being close to a wall, and escape the dangerous cave vein through the opening.

Note that this might not always work in the player's favor, as Creepers may not be able to fully open an escape. Furthermore, dealing with these explosions can be quite tricky.
