How does gossip affect village reputation in Minecraft
Five major types of gossip can essentially affect a player's reputation with a village. These values add to the reputation you have with a village in Minecraft. However, gossip decays when spreading between villagers and will ultimately reach zero after a point.
Here are the Gossip effects in Minecraft:
When you engage in activities such as trading or curing a villager, you gain a certain amount of gossip. When a piece of gossip is shared, it receives a lower share and decay value every 20 in-game minutes. This penalty reduces the amount of positive or negative gossip left after every share. Hence, major gossip is not shared and is localized.

The village reputation in Minecraft is an important game mechanic that will help you progress quickly. In fact, the price of a villager's trades is directly affected by your in-game reputation. Hence, a positive reputation will reduce the cost of items while a negative reputation will increase them.
Interestingly, your reputation also affects the Iron Golems found in a village. If your reputation is quite low, the Iron Golems will attack you on sight — this works on gossip as well so if your reputation is marginally low in one village, the Iron Golem of another village might attack you.
