“I like the idea of it looking like Xen from Half-Life”: Minecraft fans share thoughts on what an End update should look like

Minecraft recently received its much-awaited Tricky Trials update, and it was met with an overwhelmingly positive response. With new mobs, weapons, and blocks, Mojang certainly took its time to make the update worth the wait. Now, players are expecting the next patch to focus on the End dimension of the game.

A Reddit user by the name of GeckioGaming recently shared an image on the Minecraft subreddit showcasing concept art for a lush and alien End dimension. The original poster also asked fellow players what kind of End update they would like to see in future updates.

Replying to the post, a user by the name MrWarly commented:

“I like the idea of it looking like Xen from Half-Life”

Another user, EpicShiba1, replied to the comment, saying Half-Life's Xen feels like the actual inspiration for the End City, considering elements such as the floating islands, the ground texture, and mysterious pillars. They further explained how Mojang could take the best elements from the Xen to make the End dimension better and more fun to explore.

A user by the name of Eadweardus said they would prefer the End city to be 90% barren, with new biomes spread across small pockets of oases.

User Express-Ad1108 said Mojang can take inspiration from Minecraft Dungeons' End, a wasteland-like area with small pockets of interesting items to make it worth exploring.

Another user, Jimbo7211, replied, saying the End City should be mostly barren but with sporadic biomes with life and interesting items.

With the Tricky Trials update, Mojang has made all areas of Minecraft interesting, except for the End dimension. The developer made caves lush, the Nether got a much-needed update to make it more lively and fun, and the overworld now has new structures called trial chambers for players to explore.

It would be great if Mojang would now focus on making the End dimension a more interesting place. Perhaps the next update would bring something new for this barren region.
