Minecraft has a distinct appearance compared to most other games, thanks to its unique texture of blocks and mobs. However, many players have tried changing the visuals of the blocky world by using texture and shader packs. While some players look to improve the lighting or texture, others seek eccentric and bizarre options.
A Minecraft player and Reddit user named u/HistoryInevitable944 shared a nearly minute-long video on the game's subreddit, showing the combination of the Moving Blocks pack and Acid shaders. Needless to say, the visuals appear disorienting. Thus, the name “Acid,” used for the shader pack, seems very apt.
Reacting to this jarring video, user u/Blood_InThe_Water commented:

“I'm getting secondhand motion sickness from this. Well done.”
Another user, u/goodformuffin, added that this is what having a migraine feels like. Meanwhile, u/Diamond_Helmet59 sarcastically commented that this was not disorienting enough.
They suggested the original poster give themself nausea effect for a decade and rig up the monitor to a motor so that everything keeps moving around.
User u/Naddition_Reddit asked the OP to play the game with the shaders in VR, while u/TheNecromancer981 joked that players finally have acid trip simulation in Minecraft.
Another user named u/DemonDaVinci insinuated that they would puke if they played it in VR. User u/NightBeWheat55149 said this will not be an acid trip, but rather an acid adventure.
A user named u/Praha0157 said they love how the shader pack creates a wind-blowing effect on the grass and leaves. However, another user, u/Xenoceptor-, said it would make them sick.
One user, u/Worth_it_I_Think, asked for the download link to which u/tvtango suggested searching for “acid shaders.”
Shader packs for Minecraft
Minecraft shaders completely transform the game’s visuals, offering stunning upgrades to lighting, shadows, textures, and even water reflections. There are many options to choose from, including SEUS, BSL Shaders, and Complimentary Shaders.
Each adds its own stylistic element to the blocky game, sometimes altering the visuals completely. There are also niche shader packs, such as the VHS shader pack, that add a vintage, eerie look to Minecraft.
Shaders don’t just improve how light interacts with the surface but redefine the atmosphere of the game, making the experience of exploring the game world even more interesting. The process of adding these shaders is also fairly simple, making them even more desirable.
