Minecraft is lavishly celebrating its 15th anniversary. Running from May 15 to May 29, each day players get a new reward item for free, along with many interesting surprises. Mojang Studios even released a couple of free maps and one would expect the community would be thrilled about it.

But as it turns out, the Minecraft community, especially those with the Java Edition, are not very happy about the maps. The reason? Well, the new 15th-anniversary map is only available for the Bedrock Edition of the game. This is quite surprising as it is the Java Version that turned 15 this year.

A Reddit user by the name Significant_Tie_3222 posted a question for the community asking how they feel about the new map and most of the reaction to it was negative.

Reddit user zenyl wrote a detailed comment about why the exclusion of Java Edition for the map is a wrong move and it has left the community disappointed. They also mentioned why Mojang Studios might have not released the map for Java Edition, but despite all the reasons, it should be available for the game version that turned 15 years old.

Another user by the name Susemiel commented that it seems the PC gets the worst of the games. This is in reference to the many PC ports of console games that often end up buggy and cannot run smoothly.

But not all the reactions were on the negative side. User sad_everyday811 commented that there are some great things about the Java Edition like better shaders, great mods, a better Redstone system, etc. To this, user zenyl commented how Mojang is trying to make the gap between Java and Bedrock even wider.

Another user by the name Mad5Milk said that they do not care much about the differences between the Editions. They just want both versions to have the same features. User X1Kraft commented that this disparity between Java and Bedrock Edition is the reason why the player base is so divided.

The celebrations are in order as the game reached the impressive achievement of completing its 15 years. This is not a small thing; with thousands of competitions, Minecraft has managed not only to survive the test of time but also managed to stay relevant.

Players will get a new reward every day until May 29. For all the Java Edition players, there’s a free Realms map that they can download and play and it is arguably even more detailed than the 15th-anniversary map.
