As of now, Minecraft has three dimensions: Overworld, Nether, and End. During early development, however, Mojang was planning to add a Sky dimension to the game as a contrast to the hellish Nether realm. Though it changed to the End realm, with no base and floating islands, the playerbase at the time was hooked on the concept of a 'heavenly' dimension.
Fast forward to today, if Mojang were to reintroduce the Sky dimension in Minecraft, here are some of the features we would like to see in it.

4 features we would like to see if Mojang adds a Sky dimension to Minecraft
1) More established flying mechanic
If a Sky dimension is added to Minecraft, Mojang should work on new features that allow players to create a more established way to fly in-game. Since the Sky dimension will most likely be all about air and levitation, flying should be a key feature in the realm.
While the End realm gave players elytra, a gear that allowed them to glide down from high places and fly using firework rockets, the Sky dimension should work up on these features.
For example, players should be able to head to the Sky dimension and add new features to their existing elytra to create an advanced version that helps them fly without fireworks.
2) Unique flying creatures
In vanilla Minecraft, there are not many mobs that can fly. Only creatures like Ender Dragon, Allays, Parrots, Bats, Bees, Ghasts, and Phantoms, can fly around. Hence, if Mojang plans to add a Sky dimension, more unique mobs that can take flight should be added.
Creatures from mods like Ice and Fire: Dragons, and Aether, like flying cows, hippogriffs, and others can be added. They will drastically enhance the environment of the realm if it's added.
3) Friendly dragon to tame
When creating the End realm, Mojang added the Ender Dragon as the final boss mob of the game. The Ender Dragon was a giant flying creature that was difficult for new players to beat.
If the developers decide to add a Sky dimension, they should incorporate a new type of dragon that is friendly. But players will have to work their way to the beast and tame it. This dragon can be the endgame pet they need to complete the underlying story of the Sky dimension.
The addition of a new dragon that can be tamed will massively lure players to explore and grind in the new dimension as well.
4) Popular Aether portal to access the Sky dimension
After Mojang scrapped the Sky dimension plan, the modding community created the now-popular Aether mod and created a custom Sky dimension. The mod used a Nether portal-like frame with glowstone blocks and used water to activate the portal.
At the time, however, not many players knew that this was a mod and took the features as vanilla. When they tried to create the portal without the mod, the water simply flowed down the blocks. This was a massive meme at the time since people gradually noted that the Aether was a mod.
Hence, if Mojang ever adds a Sky dimension, it should pay homage to the popular reference of the Aether mod, and officially make the realm's portal resemble the mod variant.
