Minecraft is a surprisingly horrific game, just below the surface. Creepers are downright terrifying and will cause players to jump at the smallest sound, while cave noises can send shivers down the spines of even experienced miners. So it should come as no surprise that Mojang's blocky masterpiece is also home to a number of horror mods.

One of the most interesting, from a survival gameplay perspective, of these horror mods is OverMan's Quiet Place, which, as the name suggests, is based on the A Quite Place series.

This article contains everything you need to know about this horrific mod, from it's major features to how to install it.

As previously mentioned, OverMan's Quiet Place is directly inspired by the A Quiet Place films directed initially by John Krasinski. It adds in the monsters from the film's universe, known as death angels, that players must try and survive around. Much like the films, these Minecraft mobs react to sound and will chase down and attack players that they hear.

Death angels are incredibly fast and powerful enough to destroy blocks to reach their target. They can also climb walls, meaning that it's impossible to block them off or pillar up to escape them. Their large hitbox also makes it easy for them to strike players around shields, and their thick skin makes it very hard to damage them normally.

Thankfully, the creatures' incredible hearing can be used against them, just like in the film. You can craft a radio, which can be charged using redstone blocks, which can be placed down and activated. If a death angel is near, it will be stunned and open its head, giving you the perfect opportunity to strike it down.

Even being quiet isn't enough. If a death angel doesn't hear you for a bit, it will open its armor and start to listen for your breathing. If you happen to be nearby and not crouching, they'll locate you. This makes them a constant threat, even to careful players.

OverMan's Quite Place mod is hosted only on CurseForge at the moment. That means you'll need to launch it from there or use an alternative Minecraft launcher capable of pulling mods from it, such as ATLauncher or Prism.

2) Find the mod

Once you've opened CurseForge, you must find the mod within it. There's a search bar for the content browser located at the top of the application. Use this to search for "OverMan's." The Quiet Place mod should be the only result.

3) Install it

4) Install other horror content

Since this mod is a horror mod, you might want to consider installing a scary Minecraft texture pack or horror shader to make things even more terrifying. CurseForge has a section for both resource packs and shaders that can be accessed from within a modded profile by hitting the "Add More Content" button.

5) Try and survive

The final step is to create a new Minecraft world and try to scrape together a silent survival playthrough. Or craft some radios and take the fight to these new hostile mobs and do more than just survive.
