Despite Minecraft getting countless updates and bug fixes, there are some bugs that arise with every new update. The game got the much-awaited Tricky Trials update on June 13 this year, and it added a lot of new items to the game, including new copper block variants. One of the variants called the copper grate has introduced a new bug to the game that players might want to use before it is fixed by the developers.

A copper grate in Minecraft, as the name suggests, is a perforated block of copper that lets players see through it. It is great for making windows and other pockets of see-through areas in a building or structure. But players have found a new use of this block as they have found that it allows them to see through lava in the Bedrock version of the game. Here’s everything about the bug and what you can do with it.

Lava lakes can be found in different areas of the game. Caves, mines, and of course, the Nether in Minecraft have a lot of lava. It is very difficult to remove all the lava from a lake, so looking under it is challenging. But sometimes, it can be worth the effort.

Lava lakes in deep caves can have rare mineral ores under them, especially diamonds. While there are ways to look under lava, this copper grate bug gives players another way of doing so. This also gives copper some more use. The bug can be useful for many, but it might lead to issues for others.

For example, the ability of copper grates to show what’s underneath them makes the block a great option for building accent areas. Using the blocks for windows is one thing, but many players want to use them on the floor, with lava underneath it for a better appearance. But this bug will not allow them to do so, making the copper grate useless in this regard.

The bug has been reported on the official website of Mojang Studios for bugs and the status remains unsolved. The developers at Mojang Studios are likely working on a fix for it, and it will possibly arrive in the upcoming 1.21.10 update.

It must also be noted that this bug not only affects lava but also water. So if you want to build a small lake covered with copper grate, it will not work until the bug is fixed. The copper grate bug has been found on multiple platforms that run the Bedrock Edition of the game. It is common knowledge that Minecraft Bedrock is buggy, and this is just one of many bugs found in this version.
