Minecraft Bedrock players who have been enjoying trial chambers and ominous vault blocks are in for a surprise. A recent hotfix update has made the rare loot from ominous vaults even more plentiful. In a move to fix a few unexpected Tricky Trials update bugs, Mojang debuted the Bedrock 1.21.2 update on July 9, 2024, which, among other things, makes rare loot from ominous vaults much less rare.

Put plainly, loot tables in Minecraft 1.21's ominous vaults are split among common and rare categories. However, until now, rare loot in Bedrock ominous vaults was only appearing at a ~20% chance when the vault was opened. This was mentioned via Mojang's feedback system and has since been fixed in Bedrock 1.21.2.

Now, items and blocks categorized in the rare loot table for ominous vaults will appear with an 80% chance when the ominous vaults are unlocked, making the task of undertaking ominous trials to acquire ominous keys a much more rewarding endeavor.

Minecraft Bedrock 1.21.2 makes rare ominous trial loot much more accessible like in Java Edition

When Minecraft 1.21 debuted in Java and Bedrock Edition, there was a relatively unseen difference between the two editions. Specifically, the rare loot table for ominous vaults in Java Edition had their items set to appear at an 80% rate, while the common items would appear at a 20% rate. Oddly, Bedrock's loot tables were reversed with common items appearing at 80% and rare at 20%.

This was discovered by Minecraft players in the .json tables in both editions and reported to Mojang's feedback site. The report went on to note that various rare items like diamonds, specialty arrows, flow armor trim smithing templates, and more were appearing more often in Java Edition compared to Bedrock when players completed an ominous trial and unlocked the ominous vaults.

Thankfully, Bedrock 1.21.2 has resolved this discrepancy, according to Mojang's patch notes. Once players receive an ominous trial key from ominous spawners during their ominous trial (caused by consuming an ominous bottle and approaching a trial chamber's trial spawner blocks), they should get much more bang for their buck.

Since one of the most significant appeals of the Tricky Trials update is the loot that can be obtained from the challenges in trial chambers, this improvement in the drop rates of rare items from ominous vaults should be a huge win for Bedrock Edition fans.

Now, players will receive an equal shot at rare loot from ominous vaults, regardless of which of the two main editions of the game they're enjoying.
