While the process of taking screenshots in Minecraft has evolved over the years, it looks like Mojang is providing players with a new way to take them on Bedrock Edition platforms. Thanks to the release of Bedrock preview 1.21.30.22 on August 7, Mojang is in the process of introducing a dedicated screenshot button that can be found in the in-game pause menu.

By using this button, Minecraft players can pause the game at any point they'd like and click on it to take in the view in either the first or third-person perspective. Even better, the screenshots will be stored in a player's profile and can also be found in the pause menu or the main menu, so they can scroll through their favorite snapshots at their leisure.

How to use the new screenshot feature in Minecraft preview 1.21.30.22 and above

As previously mentioned, the new Bedrock screenshot feature was introduced in Minecraft preview 1.21.30.22. You'll need to download and play this preview (or a preview released after it) to access the feature until it's introduced to the stable releases of Bedrock Edition. Nonetheless, the screenshot is incredibly easy to use and simply requires a little knowledge of the pause menu.

If you're playing preview 1.21.30.22 or above, you can use the screenshot function and check your portfolio with these steps:

  1. Start the game and create a new world or play an existing one. Find something you'd like to take a screenshot of either in your first-person view or using your third-person camera.
  2. Pause the game, and you'll notice a small camera icon next to the profile button. Click on it when you're ready to take a screenshot. Keep in mind that the moment you click the button, it will take a screenshot of whatever action is currently taking place in-game, so don't hit it until you're ready.
  3. To view your screenshots, either return to your pause menu or your main menu and then click the profile button. You'll find a screenshot gallery button on this screen. Simply click on it and enjoy scrolling through your newly made screenshots.

In the screenshot gallery, Minecraft Bedrock players can view their screenshots in full screen, delete the ones they don't want to keep, and share some via various applications. Mojang is likely to continue developing this feature with subsequent Bedrock previews before it's fully ready to be introduced to a future official release.

Still, even in its current state, the screenshot button should be a boon for any players who want to share their screenshots regardless of the platform they're enjoying Bedrock Edition on.
