Minecraft comes in two versions: the Java Edition for PC and Mac, and the Bedrock Edition for PC, consoles, and all smartphones including Android and iOS. While both versions are almost the same, some features are unique to each. An example includes how trees in the snowy biomes do not turn white in the Java Edition but are completely pale and covered with snow in the Bedrock Edition.
These differences are minor, but sometimes they have a big impact on the gameplay experience. Minecraft Bedrock Edition has been missing an enchantment for eight years and players are waiting for Mojang Studios to do something about it.
The Sweeping Edge enchantment is exclusive to the Java Edition. This article will look into the enchantment and the possible reasons why the developers have yet to bring it to the Bedrock Edition.

The need for Sweeping Edge enchantment in Minecraft Bedrock
Considering that most platforms use the Bedrock Edition, it is confusing why Mojang Studios has not added the Sweeping Edge enchantment. For players who do not know, sweeping is an attack that can be executed with a sword. Not only does the Bedrock Edition lack Sweeping Edge enchantment, but players can't even use sweeping attacks with the sword.
This is a big disadvantage for many players who want to focus on combat. Sweeping attacks are powerful attacks that come with a cooldown time. Since the Bedrock Edition does not have it, using the sword just boils down to spamming the hit button and nothing else.
The sweeping attack and the Sweeping Edge enchantment will improve the combat. It makes the sword a better weapon. However, it seems that Mojang Studios is not very keen on adding it. This is not a bad thing as the developers might have something even better.
A future combat update
It is difficult to understand why the developers have not added the sweeping attack to the Minecraft Bedrock Edition. Fans have postulated that perhaps it could be because using this attack on mobile devices such as smartphones can be difficult. This does not seem to be the reason, though.
The good thing about this delay is Mojang Studios could be working on a combat update. Players have been anticipating an upcoming update that brings better combat mechanics to the game. One of the lead developers even mentioned working on an experimental combat update.
Perhaps the future update will improve the combat of both editions of Minecraft, adding new features and mechanics that might even make the sweeping attack redundant. That said, for now, Minecraft Bedrock players will have to be content with the normal attack or try to get the mace weapon to make combat more fun.
