Minecraft allows you to do a lot of different things, from exploring new biomes and fighting new mobs to finding rare loot and even flying around the world. But many would agree that the advancements that you get are inadequate. That’s why there are mods available that allow more advancements to be added to the game, such as the BlazeandCave’s advancement data pack. In this article, we will explain everything you need to know about this data pack, what it brings to the game, and how to install it.

By default, Minecraft has 122 different advancements spread around different tabs: 9 advancements in The End tab, 44 in the Adventure tab, 16 in the Minecraft tab, 24 in the Nether tab, and 29 in the Husbandry tab. But with the limitless possibilities the game offers, there should be more advancements for you to achieve.
The BlazeandCave’s advancement data pack adds over 1,000 new advancements (1,142 to be precise), dwarfing the Vanilla’s 122 advancements. Suffice it to say, no matter what you do in the game, there might be an advancement for it in this data pack. All the advancements have been divided into 16 different tabs which include:
Redstone: Contains advancements for crafting and building different redstone components
- Biomes: New advancements related to different biomes, including the ocean.
- Animals: These advancements can be achieved by doing various animal activities such as taming, breeding, or even slaughtering animals.
- Farming: Various farming activities such as growing and cutting crops and plants.
- Building: The data pack adds new advancements for building with different blocks.
- Mining: While the Vanilla version of the game has advancements for mining, this data pack greatly expands upon it and adds a lot of new advancements for different minerals.
- Nether: The data pack adds more advancements to the list of all the existing ones in the game.
How to download BlazeandCave’s advancement data pack
Before you download the data pack, note that the latest version of the data pack (1.20) is only compatible with Minecraft 1.21 (Tricky Trials update). Using older versions of the data pack will not work with the latest version of Minecraft. Also, make sure to make a copy of your world before installing the data pack.
To download the data pack, head over to BlazeandCave’s page on popular mod websites such as Modrinth, Planet Minecraft, or CurseForge. Then follow these steps:
- Download the data pack. It should be saved as a zipped file on your computer
- Launch the game and when creating a new world, open the world folder.
- In the world folder, just drag and drop the zipped file into the folder
- When starting the world, a message should pop up to let you know that the BlazeandCave’s advancement pack has been activated.
- If you want to add the data pack to an existing world, just click on the world and then on ‘Edit.’
- From here, click on ‘Open World Folder’ and then follow the same steps as before.
As always, it is better to always make a backup of your world to be on the safe side. The latest version of the data pack includes advancements for the newly added content such as the trial chambers, the breeze, the bogged, etc.
