One of the most interesting genres of Minecraft mods are those for rendering distance. These allow players to see farther, but they all work in slightly different ways. One of the most popular of these is the Bobby mod. This is particularly great for multiplayer fans, but it can be used to great effect in single-player worlds as well.

Everything players could possibly need to know about the Bobby mod, from how exactly it increases render distance to how to install it to other mods that work well with it, can be found below.

What exactly is Minecraft's Bobby mod?

As previously mentioned, Bobby is a Minecraft render distance mod. It works by storing all loaded chunks locally. It then continues to display these loaded chunks, even if they end up farther away than the player's set render distance.

This is what makes it such a great mod for multiplayer fans. Many of Minecraft's best servers will reduce the global render distance to help with performance. Bobby provides a nice way around this limitation.

After clicking on the Bobby mod's page, look for an install button. Hitting it should prompt you to either create a new installation for the mod or add it to an existing one. Select whichever option works best, depending on if there's already a modpack being used or not.

4) Launch the game

The final step of installing the Bobby mod is to load into the game and make sure that it's working. Set the render distance quite low and move around a world. Chunks should stay loaded in, even as they exit the set render distance. Additionally, installing ModMenu will allow you to check a list of installed mods to see if Bobby is loaded.

ClothConfig is one of the best Minecraft mods available. It allows you to change different configuration options for mods without needing to close the game and open up the config files manually. Bobby mod supports ClothConfig, meaning that you can use it to change render distance settings on the fly.

The way that Bobby mod supports ClothConfig is by automatically reloading its in-game config files whenever they are updated. This is what causes the changes made in-game using the menu to be reflected automatically, without relaunching the title.
