Many Minecraft fans are well-acquainted with the Cave Dweller mod. The horror mod introduces a shadowy monster into the game that actively stalks and attacks players in darkness. However, as of April 18, 2024, a new mod has arrived that introduces a more comical (yet still considerably unnerving) Cave Dweller. It is known as the Cartoon Cave Dweller mod by Dangerous_Buhanka.
The Cave Dweller in this Minecraft horror mod is admittedly goofier than its original counterpart, but players shouldn't let that fool them. This cartoonish monster is still dangerous and is pretty unsettling to witness in the game world.
It doesn't hurt to examine what is known about the Cartoon Dweller mod a few days after its release date.

What to know about the Cartoon Dweller mod for Minecraft
The Cartoon Dweller mod for Minecraft is constructed for Java Edition clients ranging from versions 1.18.2 to 1.20.1. It requires the Forge mod loader to be installed to facilitate its activation. Moreover, the 3D animation library mod Geckolib must be installed to ensure that the Cartoon Dweller has access to its necessary in-game animations, otherwise the game client will crash.
Nevertheless, once installed, players will occasionally encounter the Cartoon Dweller in their world when venturing through caves. The creature makes loud stomping noises as it runs about, swinging its arms in a lackadaisical fashion. It ignores most other mobs in the environment and instead centers on attacking players that wander too close to it.
The Cartoon Dweller can move very quickly, dwarfing a Minecraft player's average movement speed. It will attack with its long fingers and deal damage while frantically speaking in what appears to be a garbled form of English.
When the creature takes damage, the Cartoon Dweller mod will play a horror sting sound effect to increase the tension of battling the creature.
The Cartoon Dweller has a surprisingly large amount of health and can be incredibly difficult to kill even with enchanted weaponry, making it an opponent that is best avoided in a similar sense to the Warden.
Moreover, actually damaging the Cartoon Dweller can be a bit difficult, as it seems to have fairly disjointed hitboxes at the moment and many attacks can pass right through its body.
Moreover, the Cartoon Dweller doesn't appear to take fall damage, and it can even crawl through one-block-high spaces. During its crawling animation, the creature vastly extends its limbs and its head, creating a creepy visual effect that can be shocking if players leave open spaces for it to approach.
Currently, there are still a few bugs to iron out for the Cartoon Dweller mod, as the dweller has a propensity for getting stuck in some spaces, and its disjointed hitboxes make fighting it particularly difficult.
Still, based on early impressions, the Cartoon Dweller mod is a goofier yet still unsettling take on a horror mod that may enjoy quite a bit of popularity in the future.
