Despite Mojang Studios adding a ton of new items and two hostile mobs with the Minecraft 1.21 Tricky Trials update, there is still a severe lack of things in the game. There aren't many challenging mobs that can be easily approached, and there are no proper structures to explore other than ancient cities and trial chambers. Fortunately, Minecraft's Cataclysm mod fixes all these shortcomings.

This mod adds a ton of new things to the game. From countless different mini-bosses and hostile mobs to complex structures that increase the exploration factor, Cataclysm is the best new age mod for Minecraft. In fact, no other creation adds as much well-made content as this one does.

Interesting new structures include Cursed Pyramids, Ancient Factory, Sunken City, Ruined Citadel, etc. These aren't small buildings either, like the desert temple in vanilla Minecraft. These structures are massive, well-designed areas with their own aesthetic quality, and allow you to explore with a lot of challenges and rewards.

Coming to the bosses, there are many, many present. There’s the Ancient Remnant that can be found in the Cursed Pyramid. The Harbringer can be found in the Ancient Factory and it is one of the most challenging bosses in the mod. The list goes on and on. Cataclysm adds everything you would want in Minecraft to make the game more interesting and challenging.

The greatest thing about it is that the developers are still working on making it better. A lot of updates are scheduled that will improve multiple aspects, such as visuals, performance, and even more.

To install Cataclysm in Minecraft, make sure you have the Forge mod loader already installed and running. Thankfully, the process is very easy. Follow these steps if you're unsure how to go about it:

  • Visit the Cataclysm mod's page on CurseForge or other popular mod websites and download the file. Keep it handy as you will need it later.
  • Click on the Search button from the Windows Home Screen and look for Run.
  • In the Run box, search for %APPDATA% and this will open a folder.
  • Look for the .minecraft folder and then click on it.
  • Find the mods folder. If it is not there, you can make a new folder and then copy and paste the mod file there. That’s it.

Once everything is done, launch the game. Make sure that you select the CurseForge version from the Minecraft Launcher. Just follow the steps and the mod will be installed in the game. Do note that the mod is only compatible with Forge mod loader and not Fabric.
