Minecraft added a lot of new content with the Tricky Trials update and one of the most exciting additions was the mace, a new weapon that requires a little bit of mastery. The higher the mace is used, the more powerful impact it delivers as well as more damage. Along with the mace, the update also added a couple of new enchantment exclusives to the mace, such as the Density enchantment.

What is Density enchantment in Minecraft?

The Density enchantment is an interesting enchantment that gives the mace extra attack power. This is similar to the power enchantment for other weapons but with a twist. There are five levels of the Density enchantment. Each level increases the damage by 0.5 damage points per block. If this sounds confusing, let us make it simple.

The mace’s attack power increases with the height of the attack. For example, when a player jumps from a height of five blocks and uses the mace, it will deliver a stronger impact than when used from the ground. The Density enchantment improves upon this very mechanic.

For example, Density I adds 0.5 points of damage (0.25 hearts) per block of height. So attacking with a Density I enchanted mace from a height of 10 blocks will deliver an extra impact of 2.5 hearts (0.25 x 10) to the mob.

Density V adds 2.5 points of damage (1.25 hearts) per block of height. So using the mace with Density V enchantment from a height of 10 blocks would deliver an extra damage of 12.5 hearts. The higher the attack comes from, the stronger the effect of the Density enchantment.

How to get Density Enchantment?

Unlike the Wind Burst enchantment for mace, getting the Density enchantment is very simple and easy. There are two ways of getting this enchantment.

The first and the recommended way is to make an enchanting table and place it near bookshelves. To get the best possible level, it is recommended to place 15 or more bookshelves near the enchanting table. With that set, players can place the mace on the table along with some Lapis Lazuli and get the Density enchantment. Getting the maximum level might require some luck and a couple of tries.

The other method of getting the enchantment is by looking for chests in the newly added trial chambers in Minecraft. The vaults, which can be opened by finding a trial key, will drop Density enchanted books which then can be used with an anvil to enchant the mace.
