Dungeons and Taverns was initially a datapack that was ported to a mod for the block game. It was created by a team of modders, led by Nova_Wostra, and was added to both CurseForge and Modrinth in April 2023. After a year, it gained massive popularity and was downloaded over eight million times.

This datapack brings vanilla-like structures that look and feel like they belong in the game. Structures like fire watch towers and taverns and Dungeons like badland minder outposts and illager hideouts are added with this datapack. Dungeons and Taverns not only add new kinds of structures but also overhaul some existing structures by changing their loot and how they generate in a world.

Apart from structures, Dungeons and Taverns adds 12 new enchantments: Wax Wings, Gravity, Outreach, Power Crossbow, Piercing Bow, Multishot Bow, Ghasted, Wither Coated, Photosynthesis, Traveler, Antitoxin, and Illagers Bane.

First, it is worth mentioning that this mod works with Forge, Fabric, and Quilt modding APIs. These software are important to install since they allow players to run any mod in the sandbox game.

The first step is to install any one of these APIs. Head to their official websites and download the API for the 1.21 game version since the datapack/mod also supports the latest version of the title. Once downloaded, the modding API can be installed while the official game launcher isn't running. The installation will essentially create a modded game version that can run mods.

Next, head to the CurseForge or Modrinth websites and download the mod's latest version. Make sure to see that it supports the latest Minecraft 1.21 version.

Once the mod is downloaded, it can be placed in the mods folder inside the main game directory, which is usually located here: C:\Users\{PC Name}\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft.

Finally, open the official game launcher, locate the modded game version from the drop-down list on the home screen, and hit play. Once the game opens, check the mod that has been successfully detected. A new world can be then created and the new mod can be enjoyed.
