Entity Model Features is a Fabric, Quilt, and Forge-compatible mod that adds support for Custom Entity Models (CEM) from OptiFine. This particular feature, which the famous performance mod offers, allows players to run several mob-related resource packs.

At first, without OptiFine, these entity-related resource packs would not work due to the lack of CEM. Now, however, players can download EMF to do so. It is intended for users who wish to use Minecraft mods like Sodium, Continuity, or ETF, yet still want to use the benefits of the CEM resource packs.

In simple terms, this mod allows players to use entity-related resource packs even without OptiFine.

First, it is worth mentioning that the Entity Model Features mod supports Fabric, Quilt, and even Forge-modding APIs, making it quite versatile and easy to use. Secondly, it needs other mods to run perfectly in Minecraft. Below is the list of mods that players need to download in order to use EMF correctly.

  • Entity Texture Features (ETF)
  • Entity Culling
  • Sodium
  • Entity Model Features itself (EMF)

All three mods can be downloaded from the CurseForge website itself. EMF can also be found on Modrinth.

Players can simply download the mods and place them in the mods folder in the game directory. Sodium can be installed by downloading it with iris shaders from it's official website. This will create a custom modded game version in the official launcher, which can be opened to access Sodium, EMF, ETF, and other mods that were added to the mentioned folder.

Once EMF is properly installed, players can test out any entity-related resource packs like Fresh Animations, Fresh Moves, etc.
