Minecraft has its fair share of bugs and errors, and a recurring issue has recently resurfaced on Bedrock Edition platforms, including consoles, Windows PCs, and Android/iOS devices. The error is addressed in-game as Error Code: C-0010, which seems to cause connectivity issues for servers, the Bedrock marketplace, and loading issues for player skins.

But why does the C-0010 error occur? And how it can be fixed? It appears that the official Minecraft bug reporter site still hasn't found a concrete solution, but the game's community has offered some potential fixes of their own.

Note: The solutions provided here are not guaranteed to work for everyone.

Why does the Minecraft C-0010 error happen?

Mojang hasn't made a declarative statement for the C-0010 error in Bedrock Edition. However, the issues on its bug tracker suggest some form of connection issue between users and the Minecraft Marketplace, which is interconnected with Bedrock's dressing room/character creator feature and access to various maps, add-ons, and other downloadable content.

Some players have suggested that there may be a caching issue on the marketplace causing the disconnect, but the reports vary. The error has also reportedly appeared when attempting to connect to multiplayer servers, suggesting that the Minecraft Marketplace isn't the only factor at play. Unfortunately, the root cause of this error remains somewhat unclear.

Until Mojang provides a recommended course of action to address the C-0010 error, the Minecraft community has been working on its own fixes. Fortunately, some players have developed some potential fixes that may be able to alleviate the problem, even if they're only temporary.

Below, players can find some of these potential solutions to the Error C-0010 conundrum:

Fix 1: Switch WiFi Connections

If players are using a wireless connection, connect to a different wifi signal, preferably one with a 5ghz wifi band connection. This may improve network responsiveness between the player's platform and Microsoft's servers that facilitate the interplay of data between players' Microsoft accounts and the Minecraft Marketplace.

This may also address the inability to connect to servers as well, as using a 2.4ghz wifi band connection is intended for slower connection speeds across a wider distance while 5ghz connections are focused on higher speeds at shorter distances.

Fix 2: Clear the Marketplace Cache

Some signs suggest that the C-0010 error could be connected to the Minecraft Marketplace in some form or fashion, which may indicate a problem with a player's device and its marketplace cache. Fortunately, the cache can be cleared easily, and after a quick game reset, some players have reported that their connection issues were solved.

The steps for clearing the cache are found below:

  1. From the main menu, open your settings.
  2. Scroll down the sidebar to the left until you find a tab named "storage" and click on it.
  3. Click "clear marketplace cache" and then reset the game.

As previously noted, this method isn't a silver bullet and won't be guaranteed to fix the issue, but it may be helpful at least in the short term.

Fix 3: Uninstall/Reinstall the game

It may not be a solution that players always want to resort to, especially considering the recent upturn of the "waiting on install" error that seems to be prohibiting installing the game at all.

However, if at all possible, a quick reinstalling of Bedrock Edition on any compatible platform may reset the network configurations for the game.

Fix 4: Await the Situation's Improvement

While it isn't ideal, sometimes connection issues regarding servers or the Minecraft Marketplace can be a problem with Microsoft's network. In that situation, there isn't much that can be done to fix it, and players simply have to wait as the situation is resolved on the side of the developers.

If nothing else, players can spend some time enjoying Java Edition since it doesn't appear to have the same problem with the C-0010 error. It may not be the same for Bedrock fans given the differences between the editions, but the gameplay is at least similar enough to keep players engaged while the problem is addressed by Mojang/Microsoft.
