Minecraft fans are coming up with new update names, as Mojang announces exciting features

Minecraft recently got the much-awaited Tricky Trials update and it was worth the wait. It added a ton of new items and content to the game, from the mysterious trial chambers filled with dangerous mobs to powerful weapons like the mace that can one-shot kill the warden, this was almost everything players wanted. Now, players are waiting to see what the next major update will be called.

Minecraft player and Reddit user, u/definitely-not-sans, asked the community to share their ideas for the upcoming 1.22 update. They suggested the name “Rails and Tales,” and even shared an image featuring the name depicted in the typical Mincraft font. The replies to their post were interesting, to say the least.

A user, u/DisturbedWaffles2019, mentioned that we are not aware of the theme of the upcoming update, a major factor that goes into deciding the name of the update. They also mentioned that the Snapshot 24w33a added a lot of experimental changes to the minecart and that it likely won't be the next big thing, but just something to work on in the background.

In fact, the minecart change was one of the anchor points of this discussion. Another user, u/UBSL, said that they should add a faster boat after making minecarts faster, and call the update “Rails and Sails,” with “Rails” referring to minecarts and “Sails” referring to the boats.

User u/BillyWhizz asked why every update name has to be made up of two words joined with an “and” in it. While this is not always the case, the last few updates have been a combination of two words. u/ActoSket added to this observation, stating that they were going to give a rebuttal to it when they realized that only two unique updates had names with an “and” in them.

The original comment poster then pointed out that there had been three and the rest did not have “and” in it, while user u/TheGreatDaniel3 mentioned that people like rhyming words.

But perhaps the real reason why Mojang Studios uses two words that often start with the same letter is because it highlights the two most important aspects of the update while sounds catchy as well.

With the great success of the Tricky Trials update, players are beyond excited about the release of the Minecraft 1.22 update and what it would bring to the table. The suggestion (and expectation) list is quite long. Players are asking the developers to focus more on the already present features of the game, such as improving the End dimension, making the present biomes more immersive, improving the combat system, and improving the game ambiance.
