The world of Minecraft is filled with different biomes, each with its own types of trees, blocks, and even animals and mobs. Take the plain biome as an example; it is mostly flat with barely any trees but a lot of vegetation and all the mobs needed to have a farm. Now consider the mesa biome, also called badlands, a desert-like area that barely has any vegetation, trees, or animals. But it does have a lot of gold.
Different biomes have different specialties, and to see which one is preferred more by the players, a Minecraft player and Reddit user named Peppers-For-Life posted a collage on the subreddit of the game showing different biomes and asked which ones are the best to live in. They also mentioned that players should consider various factors such as appearance and utility.
One of the top-rated comments was from user Reytotheroxx, who said they prefer plains as they are too lazy to clear the trees or meet the various challenges that come with other biomes. Plains let them build more.

This should not be surprising, as many players would consider the plains biome to be the best to start the game and even set up a base. Not just that. All the farm animals and horses are available and villages are usually nearby, making things much easier.
Other players had a similar take. User Similar-Winner1226 mentioned their favorite biome is the plains biome but with a forest nearby. This is understandable, as the forest area becomes a source of wood and other important resources.
However, surprisingly, many players had some very unique takes. User MorseCode2848 commented that they prefer living in Mushroom Island, as there are no hostile mobs but just the mooshroom cow, and with caves, they can get all the important items they want, except tree saplings which they have to find elsewhere.
Another user, DuncanAndFriends commented in shock that they did not ever try going inside caves under a mushroom biome. They also asked if the way down the cave was completely safe. To this, user Advertisementsrcring commented that it is, as only mushroom cows spawn on the island.
User Few-Mechanic1212 mentioned how they do not judge any of the biomes, as they prefer living underground. Another user named SilentJoe1986 replied, saying how they want a dwarf game mode where the whole world is spawned underground.

What is the best biome in Minecraft?
It is really difficult to say which biome is the best in Minecraft, as each one has something unique to add to the game. It is true that the plain biome is the best to start the game with as it presents the least amount of challenges, as players can move to more challenging areas once they progress in-game.
It would be interesting to see if Mojang Studios adds a new biome with the upcoming 1.22 update and brings some truly unique features to it. Or the developer could perhaps make the End dimension fleshed out so that players prefer building a base there.
