Minecraft fans request a much-needed feature in upcoming minecart update

Minecraft has many features that despite being great in every aspect, aren't developed completely to take advantage of the game mechanics. For example, combat is a big part of the game and yet for years, there has been a severe lack of good weapons. Even items such minecarts have been ignored for years.

Minecraft player and Redditor u/Ultimate_Gamer7 shared a concept image on the game's subreddit suggesting something the developers should take note of.

The image shows how a new game mechanic should allow the linking of two or more minecarts using a chain link so the carts can be used as a train. Recently, the developers released the 24w33a snapshot which added some major changes to the minecart, making it faster and more fun. Perhaps the final release should also add this option of linking the carts.

Reacting to the concept, u/No_Protection4395 suggested that right-clicking between the two minecarts should add a chain and said that this sounds like a great idea. Another Redditor u/xarccosx said a train made of hopper minecarts or minecarts with a chest would be great.

Not only that but players using minecarts with TNT and using it as TNT cannons would be delighted if they could link multiple of these and cause havoc by launching a barrage of explosive cannons.

u/aboev_all said that having interlinked minecarts would make transporting villagers so much easier, with u/Earendos adding that it would also make minecart with furnace useful. For those unaware, a furnace can be added to minecart which makes it somewhat of a steam engine but just as useless.

u/FlawedController insisted that the idea of having a train in-game is great and it would make the experience so much better. Finally, Redditor u/walk said that they would love to craft a steam train using linked carts and furnace minecarts.

Mojang Studios consistently adds great items to the game but often fails to develop them further. One example is the addition of mace, a great weapon but with the only shortcoming of being extremely rare. So a player developed a resource pack that adds copper mace in the game which can be crafted using a lightning rod.
