A Minecraft player and Reddit user named u/lance_the_fatass shared an image on the game's subreddit. The picture featured the crafting grid with charcoal filling up all the space. The original poster was shocked to find out that charcoal cannot be stacked into a block like coal does. Most of the ores that are often required in large quantities, such as iron, diamond, gold, redstone, etc., can be turned into a single block containing 64 items.
Reacting to this post, user u/Womus joked that years have passed, and this feature can only be added using mods. They also mentioned how it is one of those features that players are not sure will be added during their lifetime.

Another user, u/BunchesOfCrunches, said that Minecraft needs a much more carefully planned update that addresses hundreds of nuanced details like charcoal blocks and more to improve the game.
User u/UltimateInferno said that Mojang Studios might not add this feature, given how players responded to the 1.15 release, which was a housekeeping update. However, user u/BunchesOfCrunches said that Mojang Studios has changed the structure of releasing updates, and it is more likely that they will focus on smaller quality-of-life changes to the blocky game.
User u/BeeExtension said that 1.15 was not a TLC update for survival players. All it did was add honey to the game. User u/UltimateInferno mentioned that 1.15 was largely a bug fix and optimization update. This was the reason why bees were only the new addition.
Minecraft needs a lot of quality-of-life updates
Minecraft has a lot of items that are used for different purposes. Ores are needed to make tools and weapons, and building blocks are needed to make houses and other structures. Some of these items can be stacked into a single block to make storage more efficient.
Among the most notable examples is coal, which can be compressed into coal blocks. This feature not only streamlines inventory management but also serves as an excellent fuel source, burning longer than individual coal pieces.
Other materials, like iron, gold, and redstone, can also be turned into single blocks as they are ores that require proper storage. However, sometimes it makes no sense that other items, such as charcoal, do not come with this feature.
Players have consistently suggested quality-of-life updates to further enhance the Minecraft experience. Improved crafting functionality, such as a "craft all" button, is something many gamers have asked Mojang Studios to incorporate.
Mojang Studios has a history of listening to community feedback, which is evident in their regular updates. Recently, the developers finally added bundles to the game, an item that players had been asking for years. Bundles allow a much better and more efficient storage solution. Hopefully, new features that improve the gameplay experience will soon be added with future updates.
