As part of the latest bug fixes, Minecraft confirmed resolving MC-56653, which addresses the bug where zombified piglins would drop XP and rare items when killed by anything while in an angered state.
This bug essentially allowed players to farm gold and massive amounts of XP by eliminating the mob. They would stack zombified piglins in an area and place a hostile mob around it, transforming it into an angered mob. As the hostile mob eliminated the piglins, players received XP even without interacting with said entities.
The bug was first spotted back on June 12, 2014, and was eventually resolved by Mojang. The change was followed by a string of backlash from the community and the developers finally decided to revert the change with a warning that the glitch would be fixed in the future. Bug spotters in the official tracker confirmed that the glitch is active even in the latest 1.21.4 release.
Players can expect Mojang to push out an update soon to resolve the glitch and make additional changes or introduce features to improve gameplay. It is finally time for players to move on from the zombified piglins farm and look for alternate methods to farm XP in-game.
Since XP is vital for leveling up, enchanting, repairing, and more, it’s understandable that the community is sad to see it go.
