In Minecraft, you can grow crops to get food items that you must eat to survive. To grow them faster, you can use items like bone meal as a fertilizer. However, bone meal is not the easiest item to obtain, especially early in the game when you may not have a skeleton farm. Interestingly, bees can also help increase the growth of your crops.

Here is a short guide on how to grow crops faster with the help of bees.

Steps to grow crops faster using bees in Minecraft

1) Set up a farm between a patch of flowers and a tree with a beehive or bee nest

First, you must create a farmland between a beehive or a bee nest and a small patch of flowers. Make sure there are no other flowers close to the bee nest, otherwise they will not fly over the farmland. As the image above depicts, even a simple setup would work.

Also, make sure to place a water block near the farmland, or make one near a water body. Trees with a natural bee nest can be found: they consist of a group of bees needed for this setup. If you are unable to find one, you can craft a beehive, lure bees with flowers, and let them live in the beehive. One major point to note is that the beehive or bee nest should not be too high up on a tree.

The goal is to make bees fly over the farmland after they pollinate since the pollen must fall on the growing crops.

2) Wait for daytime when bees pollinate

After the tree, farmland, and patch of flowers are placed correctly, the bees will get out of their homes and start searching for flowers. Since the latter is only found across the farmland, the bees will head towards them and start pollinating. After a while, the texture on their backs will change, indicating they have picked up pollen particles.

3) Pollen particles dropped from bees' backs will fertilize crops

After picking up pollen particles, they will stop sucking nectar from flowers and begin their return journey to their beehives or bee nests. This is the most crucial moment, as they will gradually drop pollen particles while flying away.

The aim here is for these pollen particles to fall onto the crops that are growing on the farmland. Bees must fly one or two blocks above the crops to successfully drop pollen particles that will fertilize them and help them to the next growth stage. Hence, beehives and bee nests should be low enough so that the bees do not fly high as they get close to their homes.

That covers our guide on how bees can help grow crops in Minecraft much faster.
