How to install AlainCraft's Immortal Snail mod in Minecraft Java using Forge

For AlainCraft's incredibly popular Immortal Snail mod, Minecraft players will need to download and install Forge version 1.20.1 for Java Edition. This is the only version of the popular mod loader that the Immortal Snail mod is designed for at the moment, though this may change in the future.

Regardless, if you're hoping to install this Immortal Snail mod, you can do so with the following steps:

1. Open your web browser and head to https://files.minecraftforge.net/net/minecraftforge/forge/index_1.20.1.html and click the installer button.
2. On the next Adfocus page, wait a few seconds and then click the skip button in the top right of the webpage. You should download a .jar file to your device.
3. Run the .jar file to open the Forge installation wizard, select "install client", and then click the ok button.
4. Head to https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/the-immortal-snail-by-alaincraftyt/files/all?page=1&pageSize=20 and select the latest version of the Immortal Snail mod (currently version 1.0.6) and download its .jar file as well.
5. Open your Minecraft Launcher and select Java Edition from your game list to the left of the launcher window.
6. Click the Installations tab above the splash art to the right, and hover over the listing that should be available for Forge 1.20.2. You'll notice a folder button. Click this to open the root directory for your Forge installation.
7. Take the .jar file for the Immortal Snail mod and move it into the mods folder of the Forge directory you opened in Step 4.

What to know about the Immortal Snails mod for Minecraft by AlainCraft

Once players spawn into a world with this mod activated, the Immortal Snail mob will spawn roughly 20 blocks away from them. The snail is slow and pretty easy to avoid, but if it does touch the player, it results in instantaneous death regardless of the armor a player might be wearing, including enchanted armor, and status effects won't protect players from the snail either.

AlainCraft's Immortal Snail mod, unlike some other alternatives, does provide the ability to defeat the Immortal Snail, at least temporarily. To do so, players will have to find ordinary snails in swamps and dripstone cave biomes and kill them to collect raw snails, snail shell shards, and ooze.

This can be used to progress through the Immortal Snail advancement tree and obtain items to survive the Immortal Snail.

Once players have enough ooze, they can use it to brew a special Snail Potion that can be splashed on the Immortal Snail. However, players should be prepared before they do so, as this will turn the Immortal Snail into a King Snail who will summon two Snail Knights. Once defeated, players will acquire the materials to make a powerful helmet, but the Immortal Snail threat is never truly over.

Specifically, any ordinary snail spawned by the mod can become the Immortal Snail and begin pursuing players, leading them to follow the cycle of defeating the King Snail again, which can provide a bit of replayability. Additionally, the mod introduces a snail profession for villagers in Minecraft, and players can even tame the Knight Snails with mushrooms and ride them around, very very slowly.
