Minecraft lush cave guide: Features, location, and more

Back in 2021, Mojang Studios introduced two new cave biomes to Minecraft. This was a brand new concept since caves never had a unique biome up until then. One of the new cave biomes was called Lush Caves. It quickly ranked among the most beautiful Overworld biomes, since it gave a sense of relief to players struggling to fight off hostile mobs in the night.

How to find lush caves in Minecraft?

As mentioned above, lush caves are generated deep underground in the Overworld at any altitude. They usually generate underneath regular biomes with high humidity like dark forests, jungles, wooded badlands, taigas, etc. However, they can also generate underneath all kinds of biomes.

There are two ways to find lush caves in Minecraft - by exploring different caves, or by finding azalea trees on the surface.

Lush caves are not rare and can be found while exploring various types of caves, especially massive ones. Players can walk around the caves, mine valuable ores fight hostile mobs, and find lush caves. These caves can act as a safe and comforting space where not a lot of mobs spawn due to glow berries.

The second method is to spot an azalea tree on the surface. These are special oak trees with small azalea flowers growing on them. They essentially indicate that a lush cave biome is underneath them.

When players enter a lush cave in Minecraft, they will be greeted with long glow berry vines hanging from the ceiling of a cave, small azalea bushes, and even rare axolotls.

Glow berry vines will occasionally sprout glow berries that give out light, reducing the chances of hostile mobs spawning. They can also be obtained and consumed as food items.

Azalea bushes are small tree-like blocks that can be obtained and placed as decorative blocks. When bone meal is provided to these bushes, they grow into azalea trees.

Axolotls are rare passive mobs that can both swim in water and walk on land. They can be captured in a bucket and can also be bred using buckets of tropical fish. When they start trusting a player, they can help them fight underwater hostile mobs.

As mentioned above, lush caves can be relatively safer than regular caves, particularly because they are dimly lit with glow berries. Since no regular hostile mob can spawn on a block with more than 0 light levels, these glow berries light up most blocks in the area.

However, it is worth mentioning that these cave biomes can still spawn dangerous creatures.
