One of the most controversial aspects of Minecraft's development has been the mob votes hosted for the last several years. Helping decide on future inclusions is nice, but the idea that mob vote losers will never be added in a future update leads to frustration and disappointment in some areas of the community.

And this makes sense. A plethora of exciting and cool mobs that have been shown off over the years would make amazing additions. Below, we have detailed five examples of mob vote losers the community would love to see added to the main game.

5 Minecraft mob vote losers that would make amazing additions

1) Iceologer

The iceologer was a potential villager variant featured in the 2020 mob vote against the moobloom and the glow squid. It went on to beat the moobloom in the first round but came short of beating the glow squid in the second, with 47.3% of the vote.

It was intended to be found within mountainous Minecraft biomes and would attack players by spawning large chunks of ice overhead that would then fall. While the iceologer never made it to the main game, it was eventually added to the Dungeons spinoff title. This means Mojang has the perfect foundation to build on, as they've already implemented the mob for a different game.

2) Wildfire

The wildfire, originally known as Mob D or the Hovering Inferno, was one of the four mobs included in the game's first vote back in 2017. While it lost in the second round, there were only a few thousand total votes, meaning that only a very small portion of the community participated.

The wildfire was intended to be a larger, more dangerous version of the regular Minecraft blaze. Instead of small blaze rods, it was surrounded by spinning shield plates that would protect against incoming attacks. It also had a helmet that Mojang implied could be dropped and used by players. Much like the iceologer, the wildfire was eventually added to the Dungeons spinoff.

3) Crab

The crab was a mob from the 2023 mob vote, along with the armadillo and the penguin. It came in second place, with 32.5% of the vote, losing to the Minecraft armadillo that was later added with the Armored Paws update.

The crab would have spawned in mangrove swamps and had a huge claw that could be lost, dropping in item form. This crab claw would increase the range in which players could place blocks, making it a fantastic potential addition for survival builders. Since a large portion of the community focuses on building, it should be no surprise that this mob is a desired addition despite losing its vote.

4) Rascal

The rascal was a losing mob from the 2022 mob vote. It went up against the sniffer and the tuff golem, where it got second place with 27.7% of votes. This mob would've been a small blue-skinned humanoid with a teal cloak and a backpack.

The rascal would spawn in underground areas, playing hide and seek with players. If found three times, it would give the player an item. The example item that was shown off was an iron pickaxe. This would have been a fun way to avoid getting stuck underground, which can be incredibly frustrating. It also would have been a very unique way for a mob to interact with players.

5) Moobloom

The moobloom was also part of 2020's Minecraft mob vote. It is a yellow cow with flowers growing out of its back. It would have had some sort of interaction with bees, though Mojang has never given any specifics on what this might have been.

Similarly to the iceologer and the wildfire, the moobloom could find life in one of the game's spinoffs. Unfortunately, it was added to Minecraft Earth, the short-lived AR mobile game that has long since been pulled from all app stores. In this game, it left a trail of yellow flowers, both dandelions and sunflowers, as it walked.

Since Mojang has already implemented a version of this mob in an official game, it would be easy to add them to the main game. Their mechanics and abilities could be taken right from Earth, and they could even be expanded to include more types of Minecraft flowers.
