Many animals in Minecraft currently serve limited purposes — as sources of food or minor crafting materials. Expanding the range of animal-based equipment could enhance the game's immersiveness while also making existing mobs more useful. For example, a few in-game tools and armor are crafted from animal-based resources — such as the turtle shell and the recently introduced wolf armor. These items not only add utility but also encourage players to interact with the diverse mobs found in the game.
Adding more such animal-based equipment to Minecraft would enhance the game’s sense of discovery and adventure. It would encourage players to explore biomes, interact with mobs, and think creatively about how they use resources.
Such equipment would give underutilized items and mobs new significance, making the world of Minecraft feel even more alive. That said, let's discuss a couple of animal-based equipment that could be implemented in the game.

Rabbit boots could be a fun addition
The rabbit’s foot is one of Minecraft’s lesser-used items, primarily serving as an ingredient for brewing potions of Leaping. While useful, its utility is limited, and many players overlook it entirely. What if this item could be used to craft something interesting? Like rabbit boots?
These could be lightweight boots crafted using rabbit’s feet and leather. Once equipped, they may grant players increased movement speed or the ability to jump farther than usual. Being able to bound over ravines or scale mountains with ease would help sell this item to players with no problem.
Such an item would not only make exploring the overworld more fun but also add a bit of strategic depth when facing certain situations. This simple addition would improve the status of rabbits in the game and make them a more sought-after mob.
Crab claw would have benefited a lot of Minecraft players
Crabs were a contender in the 2023 mob vote but ultimately lost to the armadillo. While the latter brought us wolf armor, the crab’s potential contribution — the crab claw — is too exciting to ignore. It would have been an item that extends the player’s reach by a few blocks.
Such a mechanic would have helped out a lot of builders and adventurers alike. Being able to place or break blocks from a safer distance or grab items just out of reach is a dream feature for many Minecraft players. It could be particularly useful in dangerous situations, such as mining near lava or battling mobs from a slight distance.
Obtaining the claw would involve hunting crabs on beaches. This would add another reason for players to explore the game world, which is always welcome.
