Recent Minecraft.net leaks appeared to be true, as the Live 2024 event confirmed the arrival of a new biome known as the Pale Garden in the coming months. The biome is slated to be released first via Java snapshots and Bedrock previews before being fully introduced at a later date. This eerie biome contains pale oak trees and moss, as well as the ability to spawn a new mob: the creaking.
Not much was unveiled about this new biome at Minecraft Live 2024, but it doesn't hurt to take a look at what we know from the presentation.

The Pale Garden is a new forested biome in Minecraft that's filled with a new tree type known as pale oak. This decaying tree type is covered with a new moss block known as pale moss, which can be found hanging from the trees as well as carpeting the ground of the forested biome. However, it's the presence of one new block in particular that brings an element of danger to the Pale Garden.
In addition to the standard hostile mobs that can spawn in the Pale Garden like in other biomes, pale oak trees can contain a block known as a creaking heart. These blocks, when vertically aligned between two pale log blocks, can spawn a mob known as the creaking when night falls and the light level drops.
The Creaking is a new tree-like hostile mob capable of stalking and attacking players when they look away from the orange-eyed creature. Moreover, these mobs won't take damage while connected to the creaking heart that spawned them, making Minecraft players think on their toes. Only by destroying a creaking heart will the connected creaking mob be capable of being killed.
As one might expect from Minecraft, the addition of a new tree type has also introduced a new wood type complete with logs, planks, fences, stairs, slabs, and all of the different blocks that are ordinarily crafted or created by players who harvest the wood. The logs can also be stripped, and the leaf blocks can be harvested with Silk Touch. Creaking hearts can also be harvested using a Silk Touch tool.
Due to the tree-like nature of the creaking, it can blend in quite well with its surroundings, and this natural camouflage could give players a good scare if they aren't careful, especially because the creaking only approaches when players aren't being looked at.
Overall, the Pale Garden is shaping up to be a particularly eerie biome, and additional details surrounding this new Overworld location should come to light when it makes its way to Java snapshots and Bedrock previews in the coming months.
