Minecraft player breaks sound barrier using the new Tricky Trials weapon

Minecraft got the much-anticipated Tricky Trials update on June 13 this year, and it was one of the biggest updates that the game has received in recent years. It added a ton of new items such as blocks, mobs, and features. But one of the most exciting parts of the update was the mace, which is an overpowered weapon that can deliver a deadly blow if used properly.

Players are constantly finding out just how powerful the mace in Minecraft is in different situations. A Minecraft player and Redditor u/ chaairs recently shared a short video on the game's subreddit which shows them getting launched in the air at a speed that is five times that of the speed of sound.

How were they able to achieve this speed? Well, it was by using the mace to its full potential. The mechanic behind the mace is that the power of the weapon increases as the attack height increases. The video shows the player falling from a height of Y level 320 and using the mace at around level -65. So the effective height becomes around Y level 400.

A well-timed attack results in the player being launched in the air at a speed of more than 1,800 meters per second. It should also be noted that the mace has the wind burst enchantment that makes it even more powerful.

Reacting to this video, u/sampleuser0 asked if the player would go even faster if they used the mace more than once. The original user replied to the comment saying how difficult it was for them to time and aim the shot.

Redditor u/Both-Development580 felt that Mojang Studios should add a damage cap to the weapon as it seemed that there was no limit to its power. They later clarified that there might already be a damage cap on the mace but they wanted to see it lowered.

The mace was a much-needed weapon as the combat mechanics in Minecraft were getting stale and dated. The mace feels like a breath of fresh air. It can be obtained by defeating the new breeze mob and getting the breeze rod.

The good thing about this new weapon is that you'll have to spend some time to master it. Using it like a normal weapon does not make much of a difference. To deal significant damage with it, players need to jump from a height and time the shot properly. Missing the mark will result in the player taking the damage. By balancing risk and reward in this way, the mace has become a great addition to the combat of the game.
